VANITY FAIR ALL ACCESS (Annabel Linquist) by Jessica Latham

I like art. One of my favorite things to do is peruse art galleries in Chelsea, the Lower East Side or check out the latest exhibit from one of the masters of our time at the MoMA. But it’s rare that I leave one of these places absolutely floored by what I just experienced and that’s exactly what happened to me last Wednesday. I met Annabel through a mutual friend and left her gallery feeling like we’d known each other forever – which it turns out, according to Annabel, we have – our friendship dates back to Egypt in the 1200’s apparently.

Annabel is both a painter and musician, although she claims she’s neither. She’s been called a new breed of “ubercreator” and she refers to herself as a psychic alchemist. She takes her inspiration for each painting and for her music from her intuitive powers and her goal is to heal those around her through rewriting the neurological centers of the subconscious mind. Sound crazy? Well, yes maybe a bit. But word on the street is, if you commission a painting by her, she’ll come back to you with something that hits awfully close to home.

And her music is just as interesting. One of her latest experiments includes writing personalized love songs – you can commission one for a significant other for $150. Using nothing but an acoustic guitar and her personal Mac computer she’ll create something for you that’s both cute and quirky but also beautiful and strangely hypnotic. Check out some examples at the link below and don’t let her alias Gretel Prinn confuse you.

I’m not psychic, but my intuition tells me Annabel’s the next hot thing on the New York art scene. You can thank me for introducing you to her in your next life.

Annabel is seen by appointment only:

Have a great week!

P.S. If you work in the building but live under a rock, I should tell you that Charlie Palmer’s Aureole (212-319-1660) has finally opened up next door for lunch and dinner. Perfect for meeting clients for a quickie – mind out of the gutter! ; )
